The Role We are seeking an experienced **Water Engineering Manager** to lead the planning, design, technical delivery, review, and optimization of water infrastructure projects and systems. The successful candidate will provide technical and managerial leadership across water supply, treatment, distribution, storage, pumping, wastewater, stormwater, and related infrastructure, ensuring projects meet technical, regulatory, environmental, quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Key Responsibilities * Develop and implement water engineering strategies, standards, procedures, and technical guidelines. * Lead water engineering activities from feasibility and concept development through design, construction, commissioning, and handover. * Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering water infrastructure projects. * Provide technical leadership for water supply, treatment, transmission, distribution, storage, and pumping systems. * Oversee wastewater collection, treatment, reuse, and disposal systems where applicable. * Manage stormwater, drainage, flood-management, and water-resilience engineering requirements. * Review project requirements, technical specifications, design criteria, and engineering standards. * Lead feasibility studies, options assessments, hydraulic studies, and technical evaluations. * Develop and review hydraulic models for water and wastewater networks. * Evaluate system capacity, pressure, flow, demand, storage, pumping, and operational requirements. * Review hydraulic calculations, network designs, equipment selections, and technical documentation. * Establish design criteria and engineering standards for water infrastructure. * Review drawings, specifications, calculations, schedules, and engineering deliverables. * Ensure designs comply with applicable regulations, codes, standards, and client requirements. * Coordinate water engineering interfaces with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and process disciplines. * Manage technical interfaces between water systems and buildings, utilities, roads, infrastructure, and industrial facilities. * Review water treatment processes, process equipment, pumping systems, pipelines, tanks, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure. * Support selection and evaluation of pumps, valves, pipelines, treatment equipment, instrumentation, and control systems. * Evaluate alternative engineering solutions based on performance, reliability, lifecycle cost, constructability, and sustainability. * Lead value-engineering and design-optimization initiatives. * Review contractor technical submissions, shop drawings, method statements, calculations, and material proposals. * Provide technical support during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning. * Conduct engineering inspections, design reviews, technical audits, and site assessments. * Identify and resolve technical issues, design conflicts, construction problems, and operational risks. * Manage engineering changes, technical queries, requests for information, and design clarifications. * Coordinate testing, commissioning, performance verification, and system handover. * Ensure water infrastructure meets specified performance, reliability, safety, and quality requirements. * Develop and monitor engineering schedules, budgets, resources, and project deliverables. * Manage engineering risks, dependencies, interfaces, and technical constraints. * Support project cost estimation, procurement planning, tender preparation, and contractor evaluation. * Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, employer requirements, and engineering procurement documentation. * Support regulatory approvals, permits, technical submissions, and authority coordination. * Coordinate with clients, government authorities, utility providers, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders. * Establish engineering quality-control and quality-assurance procedures. * Conduct technical reviews and independent checks of critical engineering deliverables. * Monitor engineering performance against project requirements, quality standards, budgets, and schedules. * Maintain engineering records, calculations, models, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical documentation. * Support asset-management and lifecycle-planning strategies for water infrastructure. * Identify opportunities to improve water efficiency, energy efficiency, operational reliability, and asset performance. * Promote water reuse, conservation, resilience, and sustainable engineering solutions. * Support digital water-management initiatives, smart monitoring, telemetry, automation, and data-driven asset optimization. * Develop technical reports, management updates, engineering assessments, and recommendations. * Mentor water engineers, designers, and technical specialists. * Promote engineering best practices, innovation, safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate should have strong experience in **water engineering, water infrastructure, utilities, hydraulic engineering, water treatment, wastewater, or related engineering disciplines**, preferably within major infrastructure, construction, industrial, municipal, or international development projects. The candidate should demonstrate: * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. * Significant professional experience in water engineering and infrastructure delivery. * Strong knowledge of hydraulic engineering, water networks, pumping systems, pipelines, storage, and treatment infrastructure. * Experience with hydraulic modelling and engineering analysis. * Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex projects. * Strong understanding of applicable water, wastewater, environmental, construction, and engineering standards. * Experience reviewing technical drawings, calculations, specifications, models, and contractor submissions. * Strong project-management, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Experience coordinating consultants, contractors, authorities, clients, and technical stakeholders. * Strong understanding of construction, commissioning, testing, and operational requirements. * Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, technical risks, and deadlines. * Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. * Professional engineering registration or equivalent certification is highly desirable. * Experience with engineering design and hydraulic modelling software is highly desirable. * Knowledge of sustainable water management, water reuse, resilience, and digital water technologies is an advantage. * Strong commitment to engineering excellence, safety, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.
