The Role We are seeking an experienced **Interior Design Manager** to lead interior design activities from concept development through detailed design, procurement, construction, installation, and handover. The successful candidate will provide creative and technical leadership, manage interior design teams and consultants, coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces, maintain design quality, and ensure interior solutions meet client expectations, project requirements, budgets, schedules, brand standards, regulatory requirements, and construction constraints. Key Responsibilities * Develop and implement interior design strategies aligned with project objectives and client requirements. * Lead interior design activities from concept and schematic design through detailed design, construction, and handover. * Manage interior designers, architects, consultants, specialist designers, and project teams. * Establish interior design briefs, design criteria, standards, material requirements, and deliverable schedules. * Translate client expectations, operational requirements, and brand objectives into effective interior design solutions. * Lead concept development, space planning, mood boards, material palettes, furniture strategies, and design presentations. * Review interior layouts, finishes, furniture, fixtures, equipment, lighting, accessories, and decorative elements. * Ensure interior spaces achieve appropriate functionality, aesthetics, comfort, accessibility, durability, and user experience. * Coordinate interior design with architecture, structure, MEP, lighting, acoustics, technology, fire protection, security, and specialist systems. * Manage interfaces between interior spaces, building systems, public areas, back-of-house areas, and external environments. * Review detailed interior drawings, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, joinery details, schedules, and specifications. * Ensure design documentation is accurate, coordinated, complete, and suitable for construction. * Coordinate material, finish, furniture, fixture, and equipment selections with project requirements. * Develop and maintain interior design standards, palettes, specifications, schedules, and design libraries. * Manage design reviews, workshops, presentations, coordination meetings, and client approvals. * Monitor design milestones, submissions, approvals, and deliverables. * Establish interior design quality-control and design-review procedures. * Identify design conflicts, technical issues, constructability concerns, and quality risks. * Coordinate resolution of design and technical issues with relevant disciplines. * Manage design changes, requests for information, technical queries, and client comments. * Manage external interior design consultants, suppliers, manufacturers, and specialist contractors. * Define consultant scopes, responsibilities, deliverables, schedules, and performance requirements. * Monitor consultant performance against quality, schedule, budget, and project objectives. * Support procurement and tender processes through preparation and review of interior design documentation. * Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, material samples, mock-ups, prototypes, and technical proposals. * Evaluate samples and mock-ups against approved design intent and project standards. * Coordinate furniture, fixtures, equipment, artwork, accessories, and specialist installations. * Provide design support during construction, fabrication, installation, and fit-out activities. * Conduct site inspections and monitor implementation of approved interior design solutions. * Review proposed substitutions and assess their impact on quality, aesthetics, functionality, cost, and schedule. * Manage design changes while protecting critical design intent and project objectives. * Support value engineering and cost optimization while maintaining required quality and user experience. * Coordinate material approvals, finish schedules, sample boards, and procurement requirements. * Monitor long-lead interior items and coordinate procurement priorities with project teams. * Support sustainability initiatives through responsible material selection, durability, resource efficiency, and lifecycle considerations. * Ensure interior designs incorporate accessibility, health, safety, comfort, and relevant regulatory requirements. * Support BIM and digital coordination of interior design elements. * Manage interior design schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and dependencies. * Prepare design reports, presentations, progress updates, decision papers, and recommendations. * Coordinate approvals with clients, developers, operators, authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders. * Maintain design registers, material logs, approval records, issue trackers, and technical documentation. * Support snagging, completion, defects resolution, and final interior handover. * Mentor interior designers and junior design professionals. * Promote creativity, design excellence, collaboration, innovation, quality, and continuous improvement. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate should have strong experience in **interior design, interior architecture, hospitality design, commercial interiors, residential development, retail, workplace design, or high-end fit-out projects**, preferably within major international projects. The candidate should demonstrate: * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related discipline. * Significant professional experience managing interior design projects. * Strong understanding of interior design principles, space planning, finishes, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and construction detailing. * Experience leading interior design teams and multidisciplinary consultants. * Strong knowledge of interior materials, finishes, joinery, furniture, lighting, and specialist installations. * Experience coordinating interior design with architecture, MEP, lighting, acoustics, fire, technology, and other disciplines. * Strong understanding of construction documentation, fit-out processes, procurement, fabrication, and installation. * Experience managing consultants, contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and specialist vendors. * Strong ability to review drawings, specifications, schedules, samples, mock-ups, and BIM models. * Experience with value engineering, material substitutions, and design optimization. * Strong project-management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management capabilities. * Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and design interfaces. * Proficiency with relevant CAD, BIM, rendering, presentation, and design-management software. * Professional design or architectural certification is highly desirable. * Knowledge of sustainable materials, green-building principles, and responsible design practices is an advantage. * Experience with luxury, hospitality, mixed-use, commercial, or large-scale developments is highly desirable. * Strong commitment to creativity, quality, functionality, design excellence, and continuous improvement.
