Our recent **public studies** include, a modelling focussed study for Energie Nederland on Resource Adequacy and the future design of the Dutch electricity market, a modelling based impact assessment of a Swedish capacity remuneration mechanism for Svenska kraftnät, a report for Naturgy Foundation on the evolution of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and a modelling focussed study for Nuclear Europe on the role of nuclear power generation in a low-carbon Europe in 2050, Business Europe on European competitiveness in the energy and climate transition, a report for Eurelectric on the evolution of system flexibility needs and the evolving concept of security of supply, a report for the Clean Air Task Force on the deployment of clean power technologies. Due to expansion of our Energy practice in Europe, we are currently looking for an experienced power market modeller/consultant with several years of professional experience in consulting, regulatory authorities or with energy utilities. You will work on both quantitative modelling and regulatory issues across Europe. You can be located in any of our European offices (i.e. Berlin, Düsseldorf, Paris, Brussels, London and Helsinki) and will continuously work with colleagues in other offices. **Typical Duties Will Include** * Quantitative analysis using our energy-specific models and using our energy system modelling platforms (power market model based on Plexos, bespoke tools in Python, data analysis) * Preparation of reports and summaries of analysis. * Active participation in client meetings and conference calls. * Participation in our business development efforts **Benefits Of Your Career At Compass Lexecon** * A competitive salary with additional benefits * A variety of interesting and challenging projects * Client interaction and responsibility from day one * Excellent development opportunities * An international team from a variety of backgrounds and experiences * A steep learning curve, in a supportive and collaborative team * Comprehensive training programs **Experience And Skills Required** * 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in energy consulting, with regulatory authorities or in energy utilities * Experience in power market modelling (long-term capacity expansion, short-term dispatch), power prices projection, supply and demand dynamics, wholesale market analysis, ancillary services market analysis, power plants valuation * Experience in power market simulation software (e.g. Plexos, BID 3, PyPSA, Antares) * Experience in data manipulation (time series analysis, data collection and cleaning). Working knowledge of statistical packages or programming languages (Python, R, etc.) * Master’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Finance or Statistics from a leading university * Fluency (both spoken and written) in English is mandatory, Fluency is German or French is a plus * Other European languages are desirable * Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills * Commitment to high-quality and accurate work * Strong solution orientation and analytical skills * Good organisational skills and ability to prioritize * Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients * Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment For an informal discussion on this position, please contact Pierre-Emmanuel Peslier (Senior Economist, Paris) at ppeslier@compasslexecon.com.
