Join us to build impactful products for Lufthansa Group, harnessing cloud, DevOps, and AI-driven innovation - including AI agents and intelligent automation. **Tasks** **In this role, you will:** * Design, develop and maintain scalable Java-based backend services, microservices and REST APIs * Build reliable synchronous and asynchronous integrations in distributed systems * Take ownership of technical solutions, from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring * Analyze complex problems, evaluate technical trade-offs and propose improvements to existing solutions * Apply AI-assisted development tools and explore new approaches to software engineering * Collaborate proactively with engineers and other stakeholders in international, cross-functional teams **What do we welcome?** * Azure and cloud-native services * Observability / OpenTelemetry * AI-powered applications, LLMs, RAG, MCP or AI agents * Experience with Agile and cross-functional product teams **Requirements** **Who are you?** * 4+ years of professional Java backend development experience * Strong software engineering fundamentals and understanding of backend architecture * Practical experience designing backend solutions and making independent technical decisions * Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, REST APIs, sync/async communication * Experience with event-driven architecture (e.g. Kafka), containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD * Knowledge of clean code and engineering best practices * Hands-on with AI-assisted dev tools (e.g. Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code); critical code review skills * Strong analytical thinking, ownership, and proactive communication * English B2/C1 * Hybrid work: 2 days/week in our Gdańsk office **What do we offer?** * International environment and career development * Lufthansa Group benefits * Competitive salary (Senior: 12–22k PLN; Standard: 9–16k PLN gross, CoE) * Co-financed Multisport card, private medical care, life insurance * Training, clear growth paths, and real impact in small teams * Modern office in Oliwa, Gdańsk
