**Role Description** The Director role is a full-time, on-site position based in Thohoyandou. The Director will provide strategic leadership and oversight for municipal programs, ensuring alignment with legislative frameworks, municipal policies, and community needs. Daily responsibilities include planning and managing departmental operations, overseeing budgets and resource allocation, and ensuring effective service delivery in line with municipal objectives. The Director will coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners, prepare and present reports to senior leadership and council structures, and lead initiatives that promote social and economic development, environmental sustainability, and community engagement. The role also involves guiding and developing teams, enforcing governance and compliance standards, and driving continuous improvement in municipal services and processes. **Qualifications** * Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including strategic planning, team leadership, and organizational development. * Strong governance, public administration, and regulatory compliance capabilities within a municipal or public-sector environment. * Financial management skills, including budgeting, resource planning, and performance monitoring in a complex organization. * Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse communities. * Experience in service delivery improvement, project management, and policy implementation focused on social and economic development. * Relevant tertiary qualification in Public Administration, Political Science, Management, Finance, Law, or a related field; advanced qualifications are an advantage. * Proven experience in a senior management or director-level role in local government or a comparable public-sector institution. * Knowledge of South African municipal legislation, local government systems, and applicable regulatory frameworks. * High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to transparent, inclusive, and community-centered governance.
