**About Us**
Machnet Medical Robotics (MMR), founded in 2020, is on a mission to revolutionise medical robotics. Our guiding principle is simple: innovation must improve patient outcomes, support clinicians without disrupting workflows, and empower healthcare staff rather than adding burden.
MMR is a well-funded company with long-term investors and a strong financial foundation. Our hardware and software teams have developed a fully functional medical robotic platform that has successfully completed animal trials. As we move into the next phase, we are refining the mechanical design for production with a focus on safety, reliability, manufacturability, and scalability, preparing our technology for deployment in hospitals worldwide.
**About the Role**
We are seeking a Technical Procurement Engineer to act as the technical link between our engineering team and our suppliers as we prepare our medical robotic platform for production.
In this role, you will review engineering requirements, drawings, and specifications, translate them into clear requests for quotation, and work directly with suppliers on technical details. You will evaluate whether supplier quotations meet our technical requirements, support Procurement and Purchasing in supplier selection, and coordinate design clarifications between engineering and suppliers so that parts arrive right first time.
This is a technical role for an engineer who enjoys supplier-facing work and wants to partner closely with purchasing, mechanical, and electronics teams.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Review engineering requirements, drawings, and specifications for mechanical and electronic parts and assemblies, and confirm they are complete and ready to quote
* Translate R&D requirements into clear RFQs, including technical specifications, quantities, tolerances, materials, finishes, and quality requirements
* Discuss technical details with suppliers, answer their questions, and assess their manufacturing capabilities and proposed processes
* Evaluate the technical compliance of supplier quotations against our drawings and specifications, and flag deviations or risks to engineering
* Support Procurement and Purchasing in supplier selection, providing technical assessments and comparisons across quotations
* Coordinate design clarifications between engineering and suppliers, including DFM feedback, tolerance questions, and change requests
* Support supplier onboarding and first article inspection, and help maintain approved supplier records in line with our quality system
* Track open technical queries and lead times for critical parts, and keep engineering and project management informed of risks to the build schedule
**Who We're Looking For**
* Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline
* Experience in technical procurement, supplier engineering, sourcing, or manufacturing engineering for electromechanical products
* Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications, including GD&T
* Good understanding of common manufacturing processes for machined, sheet metal, moulded, and printed parts, as well as PCBs, cables, and electronic components
* Able to communicate technical requirements clearly to suppliers and feed supplier input back to engineers
* Organised and detail oriented, comfortable managing many open quotations and queries at once
* Comfortable working in a fast paced startup environment alongside mechanical, electronics, quality, and purchasing teams
* Eligibility to work on site at our central London office
**Experience We Value**
* Experience in medical devices or another regulated industry, and familiarity with supplier controls under ISO 13485
* Experience with contract manufacturers, precision machining suppliers, or PCB assembly houses
* Experience with ERP or PLM systems and BOM management
* Experience supporting the transition from prototype procurement to low-volume production
* Knowledge of cost estimation and should-cost analysis for mechanical and electronic parts
**Why Join Us?**
At MMR, you will work at the intersection of robotics, AI, and healthcare, building technology that directly impacts patient care and clinical outcomes. You will join a mission-driven, collaborative team where your technical expertise will meaningfully shape the future of medical robotics. We believe technology must serve people responsibly. Human-centred innovation, integrity, and long-term responsibility guide how we design products and how we support our team members' growth and well-being.
**What We Offer**
* An international, interdisciplinary team based in Central London and Zwolle, Netherlands
* A collaborative and supportive workplace culture within a growing medical device and robotics startup
* A central London office with a well-equipped prototyping and development space
* Ongoing professional development through training, workshops, and conferences
* Competitive salary package including pension contribution
* Employee wellbeing benefits, including gym membership and cycle to work scheme
* Regular team socials, office events, and Friday treats
* An inclusive environment where people are encouraged to learn, contribute, and grow professionally
