Forward Facilities Group is a Sydney-based facilities maintenance business delivering reactive and planned works across NSW government housing and maintenance contracts. We work as a trusted subcontractor to major principal contractors. We're now rebuilding how we run, with AI-assisted workflows, a clean data backbone and a small, sharp team, and we need a senior operator to own the result. **The role** You'll run the operation day to day and be accountable for its performance. You report directly to the founder and are the person he hands the business to. This is a COO-level seat with a clear path to COO or CEO of the operating business as it scales. **What you'll do** * Own delivery, KPIs and service levels across our contracts: response times, completion rates, first-time fix and head-contractor scorecards. * Lead and develop the operations and admin team, set standards, manage performance and build the roster and cover model. * Own client relationships with our head contractors, including performance meetings, escalations and renewals. * Run commercial control of work: job costing, variations, claims, invoicing and margin. * Put the systems in place. We run on Airtable, Slack, WorkBuddy and AI agents, and you'll decide how work flows and where automation replaces manual effort. * Manage the trade network and subcontractors, including onboarding, quality and compliance. * Report to the founder with clear numbers and clear decisions, and prepare the business for growth. **About you** * You've run operations at a senior level (COO, GM, Head of Operations or Operations Director) in facilities management, construction, trades services or field services. * You have hands-on experience delivering NSW government housing repairs and maintenance (RAPM) contracts, or similar SLA-driven maintenance contracts, ideally with a principal contractor or as a subcontractor. * You're numbers-led and calm under pressure, and you can run a team without micromanaging it. * You've managed P&L or margin, and you can read a contract and an invoice. * You're comfortable with technology and want to use it. Hands-on experience with automation, no-code tools or AI in operations is a strong advantage. * You communicate clearly in writing and on calls, and you hold people to a standard. * You find the problem before it's reported. * You're based in Australia with full work rights and can work Sydney business hours. **Nice to have** * Experience with Homes NSW or social housing maintenance, and principal contractors such as Downer, Programmed, SR Construction or CBM * Field service management software experience * Prior experience taking a business from founder-led to team-led **What we offer** * A fully remote role with real ownership * A genuine path to COO/CEO of the operating business * Direct access to the founder and a high degree of autonomy * Salary from A$80,000 plus superannuation, reviewed as the business grows **Open to a conversation?** If you're between roles, finishing something, or quietly open to your next move, you're welcome to apply or message us directly.
